A Simple Truth That Lifted Me
If you’ve been feeling a little blue lately—heavy, distracted, emotional, even a little dark—I just want to start by saying this: you are not alone. Sometimes life feels like it’s moving too fast, and the state of affairs in the world can feel like a lot to carry in a single heart. A few days ago, I shared a video about feeling that heaviness myself, and I’ve received so many kind comments, texts, and direct messages since then. Truly… thank you. You reminded me that when we speak honestly, we find each other. And that matters.
And as I was sitting with that feeling—trying to find my footing again—something my mom always said came back to me so clearly, like it was spoken right into my ear:
When you’re feeling blue… do something for somebody else.
The Moment the Weight Felt Real
That’s the thing about being human—some days we’re strong, capable, and moving through life like we’ve got it handled. And then other days, it’s like your chest is a little tighter and your thoughts are heavier. You can’t always explain it. It’s just… there.
I had been feeling that way. Heavy. Blue. Like the brightness had dimmed a bit.
And in the middle of that, I realized something important: sometimes the best kind of self-care isn’t staying still—it’s moving toward something meaningful. It can be giving yourself rest, yes. It can be pausing. But it can also be helping someone else in a way that reminds you who you are.
And the moment I had that realization, it was like the universe said, “Okay… here you go.” Opportunities showed up everywhere—people who needed help, people who were overwhelmed, people dealing with time-sensitive situations who didn’t have the emotional space to figure it all out alone.
And I’m telling you… it really does make a difference.
The Shift That Changed Everything
One of the most beautiful things I’ve witnessed through this season is my team.
I’m surrounded by the kindest, most compassionate, hardest working, efficient, truly amazing organizers. And when things get urgent—when someone needs help now, not next month—they don’t hesitate. They step up. They show up.
We’ve done some really great projects lately, and we’ve even added in sessions on evenings and weekends—times we don’t usually work—because there were people who genuinely needed support during a time-sensitive moment. Those kinds of sessions aren’t just “organizing jobs.” They’re acts of care. They’re moments of relief. They’re real life.
And I don’t take any of it for granted.
When you’re in a home with someone who is struggling, you can physically feel it in the air—like their space has been holding everything for them. The stress. The grief. The exhaustion. The “I don’t know where to start.” And then, slowly, as decisions get made and piles get cleared and systems get put into place… something starts to lift.
Sometimes it’s the hallway that opens up first. Or the kitchen counter that finally appears again. Or that one drawer that actually closes without a fight.
But what’s really happening underneath all of that is transformation. People start breathing deeper. They start standing a little taller. They start believing again.
That’s the light coming back in.
The Encouragement I Hope You Feel Today
I’ve also noticed something else that’s just as important: while we’ve been working hard, we’ve also been stopping to have fun.
We’ve been going out to lunch together. Laughing. Enjoying time after a session. Getting to know our clients even better—not just as people who “need organizing,” but as humans with stories we’re honored to be trusted with. And honestly? That gratitude fuels me.
Because we do have amazing clients.
And we do have an amazing team.
And we do get to do good work in the world.
Whether it’s in the homes we organize, the families we support, or the volunteer work we do—what we’re doing matters. It creates peace. It creates momentum. It creates breathing room.
So if you’re feeling blue right now, I want to offer you something gentle:
You don’t have to force your way back into joy.
But you can reach for the light.
Maybe it looks like self-care. Maybe it looks like rest. Or maybe it looks like helping somebody else—even in a small, simple way. A kind message. A meal dropped off. A ride offered. A donation delivered. A drawer organized for someone who can’t do it alone.
Because sometimes the quickest way to find the light… is to be the light.
And mom was right.
I just want to say thank you again—for your support, your messages, and your kindness. And I hope you, too, are finding a way to feel the light again, even if it’s just a flicker right now. Keep going. Keep choosing small acts of good. Every little bit matters. And every time you create peace—inside your home or inside your heart—it counts.
