Organizing That Moves You — Literally
I was listening to a podcast the other day (Mel Robbins—love her!) and she mentioned three simple habits that support long-term health:
◈ Get moving
◈ Put your phone down
◈ Connect with people who matter
And I thought: That’s professional organizing in a nutshell.
Let me show you what I mean.
1. Organizing is Movement
When you set aside time to organize your space—whether it’s your closet, kitchen, or the garage—try working in short, focused sessions of 30 to 45 minutes.
And during that time? Keep moving!
You’ll be walking from room to room, lifting boxes, sorting belongings, reaching for shelves, bending to access drawers, stretching to put things back in place.
It’s low-key exercise! Physical activity is built right into the process.
Yes, decluttering counts as movement—and it adds up, both mentally and physically.
2. Focus Beats the Phone
When I’m working with an organizing client, I always put my phone away after we’ve taken “before” photos or checked off the shopping list. That device disappears—because full focus makes all the difference.
And the same goes when you’re organizing on your own.
Turn off distractions. Let this time be just for you.
Give yourself the same care and attention you’d give a loved one—because you’re worth it.
3. Connection Makes It Easier
Organizing doesn’t have to be a solo mission.
You can invite someone to join you—whether they’re helping hands or just moral support. A friend, partner, roommate, or family member can make the process feel less overwhelming and a lot more fun.
Of course, if you'd prefer expert guidance or simply don’t want to tackle it alone, that’s what I’m here for.
As a professional organizer, helping people feel calm, capable, and in control of their space is what I do best.
Let’s Make a Move—Together
If your home feels a little out of sync, your things are piling up, or you just need a fresh start, organizing is a great way to reset—and get moving in more ways than one.
